GW Baseball Falls In Series Finale To Georgia Southern 18-0
Feb. 20, 2011 STATESBORO, GA- The George Washington baseball team concluded their season-opening series with Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon but were unable to generate much offense for the second day in a row, dropping the rubber game 18-0 at JI Clements Stadium. Georgia Southern plated 18 runs on 18 hits while the Colonials committed four errors on the afternoon. GW (1-2) starter Bobby Lucas gave up eight runs in two innings of work, but shaky defense behind him led to just one run being earned. The Eagles led 8-0 after the first two innings and GW was unable to mount a comeback. Eric Phillips was 5-for-5 for GSU while Victor Roache connected on a grand slam home run in the second inning. The Colonials return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to face the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, MD. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
