ARLINGTON, VA - George Washington University (7-6) freshman leftfielder Charlie Kruer (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Bridge) (1) connected for his first collegiate home run and added a double in the Colonials' 9-4 victory over the University of Buffalo (0-7) Monday afternoon at Barcroft Park.
The Bulls opened the game with a run in their half of the first inning but GW posted a run in the bottom half of the first, four in the second and two more in the third inning to take a 7-1 lead.
Kruer and second baseman Tom Shanley (Stanfordville, NY/Pine Plains) (1) both homered and drove in three runs for the Colonials.
Buffalo catcher David Amaro went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the loss.
GW LHP starter Avi Rasowsky (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) (1-0) threw six solid innings, striking out seven while allowing three earned runs as he notched the win.
LHP Dan Pfau (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) came out of the bullpen to pitch two perfect innings for the Colonials and strike out four.
The Bulls committed six errors that led to five unearned runs as RHP Matt Francavillo (0-2) suffered the defeat for the Bulls, going three innings and getting touched-up for three earned runs.
The game was a late addition on the Colonials' schedule.
GW host's Delaware State University for its next game Wednesday. The first pitch is 2:30 pm.
