March 20, 2011
ARLINGTON, VA- The George Washington baseball dropped a 19-1 decision to Marist on Sunday afternoon at Barcroft Park, allowing the Red Foxes the series sweep for the second season in a row.
GW (6-14) fell behind 6-0 after the first two innings and were never able to get the offense going. Marist tagged Bobby Lucas for six runs in one and one-third innings and the Colonials subsequently used six additional pitches during the game.
Junior Jimmy Best was the only Colonial to record multiple hits, as he finished the day 2-for-2 with a double and walk. Best has now hit safely in eight straight games, batting .666 with two homeruns and seven RBIs during the streak.
GW will travel to College Park, MD on Tuesday evening to face the University of Maryland at 7:00 pm. The Terrapins swept the Colonials in a three-game series the last time the teams met back in 2007 and hold a 35-18-3 lead in the all-time series.
