GW Baseball Topped by Saint Joseph's, 3-1
Colonials Score First But Falter in Later Innings

ARLINGTON, Va. - The George Washington baseball team seized a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and held an advantage until a late Saint Joseph's rally led to a 3-1 loss on Saturday afternoon at Barcroft Park.
GW (6-13, 0-2 A-10) took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning of play after junior Ryan Xepoleas led off with a base hit, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, moved to third on an infield single and scored on a balk.
Senior Aaron Weisberg kept Saint Joseph's (9-7, 2-0 A-10) off the board by pitching shutout baseball over the next four innings until the Hawks tied the game in the top of the sixth on a RBI single by Brian O'Keefe.
Saint Joseph's then took a 2-1 lead with a run in the top of the seventh after a leadoff walk followed by an RBI double by Taylor Boyd. The Hawks scored again in the top of the eighth on a bunt single to move ahead 3-1.
Weisberg took the loss after allowing two earned runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Senior Colin Milon pitched two innings of shutout relief with three strikeouts.
GW and Saint Joseph's will play the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Barcroft Park. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
