March 27, 2010
WASHINGTON, DC - The Colonials continued their offensive onslaught Saturday afternoon at Barcroft Park and won a pair of games against the Duquesne Dukes by the score of 9-5 and 14-7. Senior Ryan Lapointe and junior Joe Richrdon picked up wins in the victories and Tom Zebroski reached base seven times in the sweep. Sophomore Stephen Oswald also accomplished a rare feat in the second game by hitting two home runs in one inning. In the first game the Colonials raced out to a 6-1 lead after three innings and didn't look back. LaPointe threw eight innings and allowed three runs to pick up his third win of the season. Zebroski had three hits and two walks in the victory and also scored two runs. Freshman Paul Pakan had two hits and also scored two runs and junior Brendon Kelliher also hit his fifth home run of the season and drove in a pair of runs. The Colonials finished the game with freshman Raj Dharmapal and sophomore Marshall Seedorff pitching the final inning. Redshirt senior Chris Luick also had a double that drove in two runs. The second game started differently for the Colonials as they fell behind 4-1 after two and a half innings, but took advantage of a Dukes error and Luick came up after and hit his team leading sixth home run of the year to cut the lead to 4-3. George Washington then blew the game open with eight fourth inning runs to push their lead all the way to 11-4. Junior Brendon Kelliher also hit a home run in the contest and drove in four runs and senior Jon Chirumbolo added two hits and a run scored.
