Another Game-Winner For Thomas Lifts Colonials, 8-7 in 10 Innings

ARLINGTON, VA - The George Washington University Baseball team played their second extra inning game in as many days Saturday at Barcroft Park, but came away with an 8-7 victory in 10 innings to even the weekend series against Richmond. Freshman Ryan Thomas recorded his second game-winning hit of the season, with a single to right field in the bottom of the 10th to give the Colonials the victory. Junior Ryan Lapointe pitched three innings out of the bullpen to record is fourth win of the season. The game was won in the 10th inning when freshman Stephen Oswald came up with a leadoff double. He was replaced on the bases by Jon Chirumbolo, who moved over to third base on an error by Spider second baseman Adam McConnell. That set the stage for Thomas and the Colonials second A-10 win of the season. The Colonials will return to the field Sunday, March 29 when they host the same Spider team at 1:00 p.m. at Barcroft Park. Senior Pat Lehman is the probable starter for George Washington, who is looking for his third win of the season.
