OLEAN, NY - The George Washington University baseball team finally got back to action on Sunday afternoon in Olean, NY and won the first game of a Sunday doubleheader 9-2 over St. Bonaventure. Senior Pat Lehman threw eight innings and allowed just one earned run to earn his fourth victory of the season and sophmore Brendon Kelliher hit two home runs to help lead the offense.

The Colonials jumped out to an early lead when they scored three runs in the first inning and two more in the third. This gave the team a 5-2 lead after three innings, which gave Lehman all he needed to work with for the win. Two home runs accounted for the first inning runs, when Chris Holland hit seocnd home run on the season and Kelliher hit his first of two on the day two batters later.

The lead held until the seventh inning when the Colonials struck for another run and then three more in the eighth inning. The eighth inning was keyed by a two-RBI single by Tom Zebroski and another RBI single by redshirt junior Sean Rockey. This broke the game open to 8-2 and would give the Colonials a lead they would not relenquish.

Junior Bobby Lucas relieved Lehman in the ninth inning and threw a scoreless inning to finish the game.

The Colonials will play a second game against the Bonnies today, first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m EST.
