CHARLOTTE, NC - The George Washington University baseball fell short in their comeback bid for the second straight day in their 6-4 defeat in Charlotte. Senior Pat Lehman pitched a complete game and allowed six earned runs while striking out eight.

Freshman Stephen Oswald went 2-2 with a walk to lead the Colonial offense.

The Colonials held a 2-1 after the top of the fourth, but their undoing was the bottom of the fourth inning when the 49ers tacked on four runs to take a 5-2 lead they would not relinquish.

Designated hitter Curtis Eward hit his third home run of the season and Lehman pushed his team-leading strikeout total to 61. He now currently sits with a 4-2 record on the season with a 2.18 ERA.

George Washington (16-19, 5-6 A-10) will continue their string of road contests when they travel to James Madison on Wednesday in Harrisonburg, VA for a 3:00 p.m first pitch.

The Colonials will return to Barcroft Park next weekend when they resume A-10 conference play against the La Salle Explorers in a three-game weekend series. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and the two weekend games are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
