AMHERST, Mass. - The George Washington baseball team concluded the 2012 season on Saturday, falling to Massachusetts, 11-1, at Earl Lorden Field.
UMass (22-20, 14-10 A-10) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI single by Anthony Serrino and never looked back as the Minutemen scored a total of seven runs in the first five innings.
GW (20-35, 6-18 A-10) scored its lone run in the top of the sixth as the Colonials opened the frame with consecutive singles from seniors Brett Bowers and Jimmy Best. A popup double play left one runner on base, who was singled home by junior Kyle Gelling to make the score 7-1.
