Baseball Announces First Signees in Class of 2022

WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball team is pleased to announce the initial signing of 12 student-athletes that will be the foundation of the class of 2022.

The class features seven pitchers, two outfielders, one catcher and a pair of infielders with representation from nine states around the country.

"We are excited to welcome these players to the GW Baseball family and we look forward to them representing our program both on and off the field with pride," said head coach Gregg Ritchie. "It is an exciting time for our program and we look forward to these young men arriving next fall and developing into impactful collegiate student-athletes."

Logan Doran
Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville
6’1 – 175 lbs.

High School/Club:
Three-year varsity starter at Ward Melville High School under head coach Lou Petrucci … All-League pick as a junior after batting .441 with 10 doubles, one triple, three home runs and 18 RBI … walked 27 times with 19 stolen bases while scoring 32 runs … helped Ward Melville to three straight League One Championships.

Cade Fergus
Plantation, Fla./Saint Thomas Aquinas
6’3 – 180 lbs

High School/Club:
Batted .410 with three doubles, one home run and 12 RBI during junior season at St. Thomas Aquinas under head coach Troy Cameron … competed for club teams Broward Baseball Academy (2015-17) and Florida Pokers (2017).

Gavin Ferrandino
Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North
6’4 – 210 lbs.

High School/Club:
Helped lead Council Rock North to State Quarterfinals as a junior when he was an All-League Honorable Mention pitcher … pitched to a 5-4 record with a 1.58 ERA and 42 strikeouts over 35 innings as a junior … finished with a 4-1 record with a 2.40 ERA and 39 strikeouts as a sophomore … played for Philly Bandits (2016-17) club team.

2017 Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention selection at Salesianum School … participated in USA Baseball National Team Identification Series Ohio Valley Prospect Games.

2017 Perfect Game Preseason Underclassmen All-American Honorable Mention selection … batted .450 as a sophomore and .380 as a junior … also posted 2.50 ERA during junior season … competed for Boston Prospects and NEB Rays club teams … competed at WWBA Underclass Championships.

Alex Kobersteen
Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland
6’3 – 175 lbs.

High School/Club:
Posted a 2.52 ERA with 56 strikeouts during junior season at Courtland High School under head coach Tim Acors … has totaled 147 career strikeouts over two varsity seasons … totaled 58 strikeouts and a 2.36 ERA as a sophomore.

Noah Levin
Tarzana, Calif./Sierra Canyon
5’10 – 190 lbs.

High School/Club:
All-Gold Coast League selection in 2017 as a junior at Sierra Canyon High School under head coach Rick Weber … recipient of Coach’s Award (2017) and Golden Glove Award (2016) … batted .367 with 25 RBIs and a .950 fielding percentage during junior season … posted .972 fielding percentage as a sophomore while helping turn a league-leading 12 double plays.

Rich Pfluger
Palm City, Fla./Martin County

Posted a 0.52 ERA while limiting opponents to .057 batting average as a junior at Martin County High School … totaled a 24-to-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio during junior season … threw a no-hitter on April 17, 2017 … has played for Vero Beach Baseball Academy (2014-16) and FTB Rockets (2016-17).

Named a 2017 Shore Conference A-South Pitcher to Watch by … earned No. 1 starter role, saved four games and pitched to a 1.76 ERA as a junior … named to All-Tournament team at 2016 WWBC 16U National Championship … played for club team Baseball U (2015-17).

Trey Torain

Led team in home runs, RBI and extra base hits as a junior at Loyola Academy … competed for Top Tier 17U Americans and led team in home runs … competed for same club team for 15U and 16U.
