WASHINGTON, DC - Former George Washington baseball standout Josh Wilkie '06 has been extended an invitation to attend spring training with the Washington Nationals and will report to camp in Viera, FL, on February 16.

Wilkie, a right-handed relief pitcher, signed as a non-drafted free agent in June 2006. He made 18 relief appearances for Leones del Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League going 2-2 with a 3.20 ERA. He spent the 2010 season with the Syracuse Chiefs of the International League, pitching to a 4-4 record with a 2.45 ERA. He recorded nine holds and eight saves while appearing in 53 games. He struck out 62 batters in 69.2 innings, including one start. It was Wilkie's second season as the anchor of the Chiefs' bullpen.

In five minor league seasons, Wilkie has appeared in 210 games, recording 17 wins and 31 saves with a 2.91 ERA. He has 273 strikeouts in 309.1 innings.

A native of Alpharetta, GA, Wilkie finished his career at GW (2003-2006) with a 25-12 record and a 2.97 earned-run average. His 25 victories place him third all-time at GW and his 291 career strikeouts rank second on the GW career strikeouts list.
