Perfect Game's Atlantic 10 Preview

WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball duo of senior Robbie Metz and sophomore Elliott Raimo have each earned a spot on the Perfect Game Preseason Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team.

Both players are coming off of All-Conference honors last season after standout campaigns that helped the Colonials to a 31-win season, the second time in the past three seasons that GW has eclipsed the 30-win mark.

Metz will begin his senior season as the team's starting second baseman and has started 163 games in his career to date. Last season he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team after he enjoyed the finest collegiate season of his career. He ranked second on the team with a .339 batting average with 32 RBIs, tallied 76 hits (12 for extra bases) and finished 13-of-18 in steal attempts. Metz also helped anchor one of the top defensive units in the Atlantic 10 as he helped turn 44 double plays on the year while committing just six errors for a .974 fielding percentage. The Poolesville, Maryland, native carries a 15-game hit streak into the 2018 season.

Metz also saw time on the mound where he finished with a 24-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 37.2 innings of work.

Raimo is coming off a standout rookie season that saw him earn both Atlantic 10 All-Rookie honors and a place on the ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region Second Team.

The 6-foot-4 righty was a three-time Rookie of the Week in 2017 while leading GW and ranking second in the A-10 with eight wins. He pitched to a 3.20 ERA on the season with 73 strikeouts and two complete games. Against conference opponents, he pounded the strike zone to the tune of a 5-2 record with a 2.50 ERA and 50 punchouts.
