Washington Nationals to Allocate 2,000 General Admission Tickets for GW-Saint Joseph's Baseball Game

March 6, 2008

WASHINGTON, DC - The Washington Nationals will provide 1,500 general admission tickets to The George Washington University and 500 tickets to Saint Joseph's University for their Atlantic 10 Conference baseball game at 1:05 p.m. on March 22, 2008, the first game to be played at Major League Baseball's newest stadium, Nationals Park. The game will be privately ticketed and is not open to the public, as previously announced jointly by GW and the Nationals. The GW-Saint Joseph fan seating will be limited to 2,000 by the Nationals because the game also will serve as an opportunity for the team to assess its facilities and operations prior to the official opening of the ballpark later in March.

GW will distribute its ticket allocation to students, baseball team members and their families, and donors to GW's baseball and other athletic programs. The university also will compile a wait list for other GW community members. The university will offer the tickets at no charge. Contributions to the GW baseball program, which will help to update the team's facilities, are appreciated.

On March 12, the university will distribute 200 tickets to GW students on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Charles E. Smith Center box office (600 22nd St., NW) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. One ticket per student will be offered and a valid GWorld identification card will be required. Wait list requests can be sent to gwcoltix@gwu.edu and will be handled by an athletic department representative. Campus media can request press credentials by e-mailing Brad Bower, sports communications director, at bbower@gwu.edu.

The game, in which GW will host Saint Joseph's University, will take place at Nationals Park on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 1:05 p.m., with gates scheduled to open at 12 p.m. No tickets will be available for sale at the stadium. The Atlantic 10 Conference contest, which takes place eight days before the Nationals' official, regular season opener on March 30, will be the first game played in the new stadium. Though taking place at a neutral site, it will count as a regular season A-10 home game for GW.

Nationals Park, equipped with state-of-the-art video and audio technology, including a 4,800-square foot high-definition scoreboard, is located near the Navy Yard Metro Station (Green line). Attendees are encouraged to ride Metro to the game. For more information, please visit http://washington.nationals.mlb.com.

The Nationals are scheduled to make their home debut at the new park Saturday, March 29, when they host the Baltimore Orioles in a 6 p.m. exhibition game. The following night, Sunday, March 30, the Nationals host the Atlanta Braves in a nationally televised game on ESPN at 8:05 p.m. in their official 2008 season opener.
