WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University senior catcher Joe Michalski (Ellicott City, MD / Mt. Hebron) has been named to the 2005 Johnny Bench Award Watch List, the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced.

The award, named after Hall of Fame and former Cincinnati Reds catcher Johnny Bench, is given annually to the nation's top collegiate catcher.

Thirty-seven catchers from 16 different athletic conferences across the country were nominated for the award by their coaches.

The list will be narrowed down to ten on May 17, and three finalists will be named on June 1. The winner will be announced at the Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 29.
