GW Baseball to Host La Salle at Barcroft Park this Weekend as Renovations Continue

Weekend Series Information | Construction Photo Gallery WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball team will play its first game on the new FieldTurf surface at Barcroft Park on Friday afternoon as the Colonials open Atlantic 10 Conference play with a three-game series against La Salle. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 2 p.m. Due to the ongoing construction and renovation of Barcroft Park, parking and seating for this series will be limited. Fans are encouraged to park at the Arlington Recreation Center, located next door to Barcroft Park on South Four Mile Run Road, and walk along the path to the temporary seating area located along the first base line. Portable public restrooms will be available on-site with additional restrooms located nearby inside the Arlington Recreation Center. Stay tuned to GWSports.com for updates on construction and for forthcoming information regarding a George Washington Baseball Alumni Event to be held later this season. Additional promotions and special events will be scheduled around the 2012 Colonials' home schedule as construction allows. The ongoing renovation of Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va., is the next great chapter of GW baseball aimed at elevating the competitiveness of the program. A public-private partnership with Arlington County, the project has already refurbished the field and bullpens and will ultimately expand grandstand-style seating, improve parking and add dugouts and a press box. In exchange for its investment, GW has secured rights to use the field for the next 20 years will share costs of maintenance with the county. The Barcroft renovations will continue throughout the 2012 season with a Grand Opening celebration scheduled for 2012-13. For more information on the project, visit GWsports.com.
