GW's Rockey Wins A-10 Co-Player of the Week Award
March 24, 2009
PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington's Sean Rockey has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Week for baseball, the league office announced Wednesday. It marks Rockeys first A-10 Player of the Week honor of the 2009 season. He shares this week's award with Rhode Island's Dan Rhault. It is also the second all-conference honor for George Washington Baseball this season. Rockey collected two hits in each of the Colonials' three contests versus Rhode Island and went 7-for-14 on the week. He scored five runs and drove in four and also slugged three homers in the week that included three games against Rhode Island and mid-week contests against Randolph-Macon and Georgetown. He also drew three walks and was hit-by-pitch four times. Rockey leads GW with a .411 batting average and is tied for the team lead with Andrew Haberern with a .667 slugging percentage during the 2009 season. The Colonials will return to action Friday against Richmond this weekend (3/27-3/29) as they continue A-10 conference play. The Friday game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m., while the two weekend contests have 1:00 p.m. start times.
