Baseball's Wednesday Game Against Coppin State Has Been Cancelled

March 31, 2004

WASHINGTON, DC - Baseball's game with Coppin State has been cancelled GW head coach Tom Walter has announced. The game was cancelled due to anticipated rain this afternoon. While the game will not be rescheduled, Coppin State will play at Barcroft Park on April 13th at 3:30 pm rather than GW playing at Coppin State.

The Colonials (16-11, 2-1) had scheduled 61 games but are only allowed to play 56 regular season games. This is the third cancellation of the year meaning that the team still has a two-game cushion. Losing Wednesday's game shortens their home stand to 13 games during which the team went 9-4. The Colonials also went 14-5 during the month of March including a four and a five game winning streak with 17 home games in the month. GW has won the last two and seven of their last eight including winning two of their three games against A-10 rival UMass. The Colonials have never lost to Coppin State going 26-0 in their all-time series with the Eagles.

The Colonials' improved play of late is starting to receive recognition and the team was voted the 12th in the Northeast Region in a coaches poll conducted by College Baseball Insider. The Colonials will take their 2-1 conference record to New York where the team will play a 3-0 Fordham team that swept Dayton last weekend. As it is an away game, gametracker will not be available for the three-game A-10 series.
