GW Baseball Visits Georgetown on Tuesday
Townsend Carries Nine-Game Hitting Streak Into Rematch With Hoyas

April 8, 2013
WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball team will resume its non-conference schedule on Tuesday afternoon with a visit to Georgetown and Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda, Md. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
GW (11-20) fell to Georgetown, 10-4, at home on March 19 despite a home run and three RBIs from freshman Matthieu Robért. Georgetown (18-11) took advantage of three GW errors and used a six-run third inning en route to the 10-4 victory.
The Colonials had won seven-of-nine games entering this past weekend's Atlantic 10 series against Richmond, but were swept by the Spiders at Barcroft Park to fall to 5-4 in A-10 play.
Junior Brookes Townsend carries a nine-game hitting streak into Tuesday's rematch with the Hoyas. The Beverly Farms, Mass., native leads the Colonials with a .306 batting average, .378 on-base percentage, 30 hits and 35 total bases. He has recorded multiple hits in each of the past five games.
Despite the loss earlier this season, GW maintains a sizable lead in the all-time series against Georgetown at 89-36-1.
GW will resume Atlantic 10 conference action this weekend with a three-game series at Charlotte beginning on Friday.
