Baseball Weathers Fifth Consecutive Rain Out With Today's Georgetown Cancellation
April 9, 2003 WASHINGTON, DC - Due to rain, GW had to cancel today's game against Georgetown. The game will not be rescheduled. The Colonials have been rained out for the last five consecutive games, missing nine in two weeks. Weather willing, GW would next play George Mason on Thursday at Barcroft Park at 3:00 pm. The Colonials must keep their three-game winning streak on ice as they wait out this latest bout of inclement weather. GW will travel to Xavier this weekend hoping to play their first Atlantic 10 games in three weeks. The Colonials who had scheduled 60 games this year will now only play 48 if no more games are rained out. Having missed six of nine Atlantic 10 games, the remaining conference games now take on a greater level of importance. The top two teams from each A-10 division make the first round of the A-10 tournament. Division leaders are determined by the winning percentage in A-10 games. GW's remaining A-10 games will be played against fellow Atlantic 10 West opponents.
The only undefeated team in the A-10 is La Salle who leads the West at 4-0 (1.000). No. 17 Richmond is second in the West at 4-1 (0.800). GW is fifth in the West at 1-2 (0.333) while Xavier is fourth at 2-3 (0.400). GW leads the all-time series against Xavier 12-8.
