WASHINGTON, DC - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Monday that George Washington University baseball player Derrik Lutz (Grantville, PA / Lower Dauphin) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance Thursday against St. Bonaventure.

Lutz was lights-out against the Bonnies, allowing no earned runs and three hits in 8.0 innings while posting a career-high 12 strikeouts. The right-hander also recorded the win in GW's 10-2 conference victory in Olean, NY.

The junior currently leads the team with a 1.40 ERA and a .173 batting average-against mark.

Over his last three starts, Lutz has allowed just one earned run in 24.0 innings (0.38 ERA), tallying 29 strikeouts (1.2 per inning) while holding opponents to a .127 batting average.

Lutz shares the award with Saint Louis RHP Ryan Bird.

Lutz is the second GW pitcher to earn the weekly honor as RHP Josh Wilkie (Alpharetta, GA / Chattahoochee) was as chosen Co-Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 27.

GW returns to the field Tuesday in Baltimore, MD, when it squares off with UMBC. Game time is 7:00 pm.
