WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball program is proud to announce that its home game on Saturday, May 10 against Rhode Island will be Hometown Heroes Day at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va.
Hometown Heroes Day is an event to honor and say "thank you" to the brave men and women of the armed services and emergency response personnel in Arlington County.
"We are very proud to be able to host area heroes at our game on May 10," said head coach Gregg Ritchie. "Recognizing and honoring our local heroes and members of the armed forces is a priority within the university community and we are happy to have Barcroft Park play host to such a special event."
The event will feature a special pregame Heroes Tailgate in the Barcroft Park parking lot from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Fans will be able to enjoy an up-close and personal look at various emergency response vehicles on site courtesy of Joint Base Myer Henderson Hall, the Arlington Police Department and the Arlington Fire Department.
Additionally, a special pregame ceremony will take place on the field and will recognize area heroes.
