College Baseball Insider Names GW `Team of the Week'

May 4, 2005

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University baseball team (30-14, 10-5 A-10) was named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week for April 25-May 1.

The Colonials went 5-0 during the stretch and launched themselves into first place of the Atlantic 10's West Division.

After edging James Madison University 8-7 Wednesday and Delaware 4-3 on Thursday, GW pulled off a three-game conference weekend sweep of the University of Dayton.

The Flyers held a two game division lead prior to the series, but the Colonials' sweep catapulted them into sole position of first place.

"We had some big wins against a couple of good non-conference teams," head coach Steve Mrowka said. "But playing a strong team like Dayton and pulling out three tight victories was great. I was really happy about that."

The Colonials travel to Rockville, MD Wednesday night to play the second game of a home-and-home series against Georgetown. Game time is 7:00 pm.
