Colonials Baseball Reschedules Three-Game Series With Temple

May 5, 2003

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Colonials have six more Atlantic 10 games in which to secure their place in the postseason tournament which they won last year. It was announced today that GW will make up its three-game series with Temple on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday's single game will start at 4:00 PM while Wednesday's doubleheader starts at 2:00 PM. All three games, as well as this weekend's final home series against Dayton will be played at Barcroft Park in Arlington, VA.

GW is currently in seventh place and needs to pass Temple to regain the final spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament which will be played in Norwich, CT starting on May 15th. The Colonials who had six A-10 games rained out earlier this year will make up three in a series against Temple at home. Temple sits at .500 with a 9-9 record, they are 19-22 (.463) overall. GW was in sixth place going into this weekend before being swept by No. 14 Richmond after winning six straight A-10 games and 11-straight overall for the second time this year.

The Colonials are 30-15 (.667) overall and had the 19th highest winning percentage in the country as recently as a week ago. Temple leads the all-time series between the two A-10 schools, 15-2. In 2001, GW was defeated by Temple in the A-10 Championship game after beating them once in the playoffs. GW is 14-2 at home this season and have not lost a conference game at Barcroft this year.

GW will conclude its regular season with a three game series against Dayton with two games on Saturday and one game on Sunday. Games start at noon on both days and will be played at Barcroft Park. Sunday will be senior day to honor the four graduating seniors. Dayton is 1-17 this year and GW leads the all-time series with a 19-5 record.
