Baseball's Raimo Named A-10 Rookie of Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington baseball freshman Elliott Raimo has earned his third consecutive Atlantic 10 weekly award, and fourth honor of the season, when he was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Raimo has now totaled Rookie of the Week honors three times this season in addition to being honored once as the conference's Pitcher of the Week.

The Albany, New York, native impressed once again in his weekend start. On Sunday in the first game of a doubleheader at La Salle he fired eight innings of one-run ball with a career-high 11 strikeouts to help the Colonials to a 4-1 win over the Explorers.

He scattered seven hits on the afternoon while inducing six groundouts and six flyouts. He also did not walk a batter.

In his last three starts he has allowed only two earned runs across 26.0 innings with two walks and 23 strikeouts. For the season he owns a 7-3 record with a 3.21 ERA and a team-best 66 strikeouts across 81.1 innings.

GW closes out the regular season by hosting Saint Joseph's in a three-game series this weekend. First pitch in Thursday's opener is set for 3:00 p.m.
