WASHINGTON, DC - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Monday that George Washington University baseball player Derrik Lutz (Grantville, PA / Lower Dauphin) has been named its Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance against La Salle University on Friday.

In the conference game versus the Explorers, Lutz allowed a leadoff single and a fourth inning infield hit on his way to a complete-game, two-hit, nine-inning shutout that the Colonials won 1-0. The sophomore also struck out nine batters in the contest.

With the win, Lutz improved to 7-0 overall and lowered his earned run average to 1.81, fanning 80 batters in 64.2 innings.

Over his last four starts the right-hander is 4-0 with a microscopic 0.60 ERA, allowing just two earned runs in 30 innings.

Lutz shares the honor with Rhode Island's LHP Zack Zuercher.

The award is Lutz's second of the year, earning A-10 Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of March 21.

GW returns to action Wednesday at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (7:00 pm start) and then closes out the regular season with a three-game conference series at Temple beginning Thursday.

The Colonials and Owls will meet for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm Thursday and play the regular season finale Friday, also beginning at 12:00 pm.
