WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington senior shortstop Michael Parker (Newton, MA/Newton South) and junior outfielder Charlie Kruer (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) have both been named to the Atlantic 10 Baseball All-Conference first-team in voting conducted by the league's head coaches, the league announced on Tuesday.
In the same voting, freshmen first baseman/designated hitter Curtis Eward (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton) and second baseman Tom Zebroski (Port Washington, NY/Paul Schreiber) were selected as members of the All-Rookie team.
Michael Parker, who led the A-10 with 59 runs scored and 60 RBI, was ranked in the league's top-ten in nine separate offensive categories. In his last season at GW, he finished first on the team in slugging percentage (.604), on-base percentage (.434) hits (84) and doubles (22) and was second with 10 home runs. Parker was selected as conference Player of the Week on April 23, for a four-game stretch in which he recorded at least one hit, one RBI and one run scored in all four games and had two four-hit performances. The team's 2007 MVP finished his four-year career ranked seventh all-time at GW with 47 doubles and 10th with 43 stolen bases.
Charlie Kruer, along with Parker, was one of just two players to start all 55 games for the Colonials this season. The hard-hitting outfielder was third in the A-10 with 13 home runs and ended the season tied for third in RBI (57), sixth in total bases (121) and seventh in slugging percentage (.576). Kruer, who slugged .637 and hit over half of his home runs in conference play, often saved his best performances against the league's top teams. He blasted three homers and drove in eight runs in three games against third-seeded Richmond and recorded two home runs and five RBI in the series finale against nationally ranked Charlotte. For his efforts against the Spiders, Kruer was named the A-10 Player of the Week (4/2/07).

Joining Eward on the All-Rookie team is Tom Zebroski, who led all GW freshmen with 48 starts. Zebroski was the only Colonial to record more walks (19) than strikeouts (14) and raised his batting average by 27 points in the final six games (11-for-24), to finish fourth on the team (.314). On March 19, he was named conference Co-Rookie of the Week after he recorded five hits and six RBI in four games. Zebroski finished the 2007 season ranked 13th in the country with 0.31 sacrifice hits per game.
In the same voting, St. Bonaventure senior first baseman Brian Pellegrini was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year, for the second straight season, and Adam Mills, a senior right-hander from Charlotte, earned Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year honors. Freshman starting pitcher Matt Zielinski of Richmond was named the Rookie of the Year while Charlotte's Loren Hibbs was tabbed Coach of the Year. Additionally, St. Bonaventure junior Randy Moley was named Student-Athlete of the Year in voting among the Conference's sports information directors.
George Washington was 23-31-1 overall in 2007 and 14-13 in the A-10, finishing just one spot out of the conference tournament, despite ending the year with a season-best six-game winning streak. It was their 14th straight season with at least 20 wins.
