GW Closer Joel Brookens Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University RHP Joel Brookens (Fayetteville, PA / Gettysburg Area) was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for his performance in the Colonials' final week of the regular season, the conference announced on Monday.

Brookens saved all three GW wins last week including the Colonials' Atlantic 10 West Division clincher at Temple on Thursday.

For the week, the freshman faced 10 batters in three innings and retired all of them while striking out four.

During GW's final 20 games of the regular season, Brookens saved seven games with an ERA of 0.96.

Brookens recorded nine saves in the regular season, tying him for first in the A-10. Brookens' nine saves in 2005 is also the second highest single season total GW program history.
