Brad Rosenblat Named A-10 Baseball Player of the Year
May 24, 2005 DAYTON, OH - George Washington University baseball player Brad Rosenblat (New Orleans, LA / Newman / Tulane) was named the 2005 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year the conference announced at the A-10 Baseball Championship Awards Banquet Tuesday evening. The right fielder is the first-ever Colonial to win the award. Rosenblat also was named First Team All-Conference and Academic All-Conference. First baseman Ryan Roberson (Silver Spring, MD / James H. Blake) and RHP Derrik Lutz (Grantville, PA / Lower Dauphin) were also named First Team All-Conference Tuesday. Rosenblat had a sensational 2005 season, leading or tied for first in the Conference in eight offensive categories including hits (74), runs scored (64), runs batted in (56), home runs (17), total bases (147) and steals (20). The senior is also tied for first in the league in hits (74) and doubles (18) and is second with a .721 slugging percentage. Rosenblat's biggest competitor for Player of the Year, most likely, was Roberson who led the A-10 in hitting (.416), on base percentage (.483), slugging percentage (.747), tied Rosenblat for hits (74) and was third in home runs (15). Lutz recorded a perfect 8-0 record this year with a 2.30 ERA, third best in the conference. Lutz was also third in batting average against (.201) and strike outs (93). The sophomore also was named First Team All-Conference last year. GW is the number two seeded team in this year's A-10 Tournament and will face the winner of the first round game between Fordham and Richmond on Thursday at Fifth Third Field in Dayton, OH.
