Baseball's Tom Shanley Named to ECAC All-Stars 2nd Team

WASHINGTON, DC - GW freshman shortstop Tom Shanley (Stanfordville, NY/ Pine Plains) was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2003 Division I Baseball All-Stars Second Team, the league announced Friday.

The 2003 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, Shanley led the Conference in batting with a .398 average.

He was a four-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week which tied for the most weekly rookie honors since the award first began in 1996. Shanley tied for second in the A-10 in runs scored with 48, while his 74 hits and .475 on-base percentage are the third-highest totals in the Conference. He was selected to the A-10 All-Conference second team.

The 2002 A-10 champion Colonials (37-18, 12-9 A-10) were among the final four teams in the 2003 Conference Tournament for the third consecutive year.
