Orenduff and Raglani Win National Honors From Louisville Slugger

June 6, 2002

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington freshman Justin Orenduff (Chesapeake, VA/Western Branch) was named to the 2002 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team as chosen and announced by Collegiate Baseball newspaper June 5. Fellow freshman, outfielder Anthony Raglani (Indiana, PA/Indiana), received honorable mention honors based on his contributions to the Atlantic 10 Tournament champion Colonials this season.

At the time of his nomination, Orenduff had posted a 7-2 record. However, he concluded his superb season with three more relief victories earned in the Atlantic 10 Tournament for a final season record of 10-2. The righthander appeared in 28 games, leading the team with a 1.68 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 59 innings. He walked just 19 batters, while holding opponents to a .181 batting average. Orenduff was recognized once this season as Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week and was named to the Atlantic 10 Baseball All-Championship Team.

Raglani played in 56 games during his freshman season. Primarily a leftfielder, he collected 47 hits, scored 31 runs, and notched 37 RBIs, while blasting five homers, one triple and 13 doubles. He had eight multiple-hit games, twice going 3 for 4, once at Tulane (February 22) and again at Massachusetts (March 29). He made just two errors in 82 chances and ranked fourth on the team in doubles (13) and sacrifice bunts (4) and fifth in RBIs (37).
