Justin Dignelli Selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 34th Round of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft

June 11, 2009

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington right-handed pitcher Justin Dignelli was chosen by the Los Angeles Dodgers today in the 34th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Dignelli gives the Colonials two selections in the 2009 MLB Draft as fellow senior right hander Pat Lehman was selected in the 13th round by the Washington Nationals.

"Congratulations to Justin for being selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers," said Head Coach Steve Mrowka. "I believe Justin is a talented pitcher who has his best days of baseball ahead of him. We will miss having him on our 2010 team, but wish him the best as he enters professional baseball."

Dignelli fought off numerous injuries at George Washington, but was able to make three starts at the end last season and threw 12 2/3 innings and struck out seven.
