Wilkie Selected for 2009 Double-A Eastern League All-Star Game

HARRISBURG, PA - Former George Washington baseball standout and current Harrisbug Senators' relief pitcher Josh Wilkie ('06) has been chosen to participate in the 2009 Double-A Eastern League All-Star Game Wednesday, July 15, in Trenton, NJ.

Wilkie, who spent the 2008 season with the Washington Nationals' single-A Potomac affiliate, has posted a 5-2 record with a save and 2.76 ERA through 42.1 innings in 28 appearances with the Senators so far this season. Wilkie will suit up for the Southern Division All-Stars, consisting of 24 players from the Senators, Akron Aeros, Altoona Curve, Bowie Baysox, Erie Sea Wolves and Reading Phillies.

The EL All-Star Game will be played at Trenton's Mercer County Waterfront Park at 7:05 PM. Tickets are available by calling 609-394-3300 or online at www.trentonthunder.com.

Wilkie ranks second in GW program history with 48 starts and 291 strikeouts and is third all-time with 25 victories. He was the 2006 recipient of the team's Warren H. Fulton III Memorial Award, which recognizes the player who best exemplifies the spirit, teamwork and sportsmanship demonstrated by the late Fulton, who played at GW from 1986-88.
