GW Baseball's Sheinkop Inks Deal with Cape Cod League

WASHINGTON - George Washington baseball senior Jordan Sheinkop signed a contract with the Brewster Whitecaps on Saturday to become the fifth Colonial to appear in the famed Cape Cod Baseball League this summer.

Sheinkop concluded a standout summer season in the Hamptons Collegiate League playing for the Sag Harbor Whalers, prior to signing in the Cape. In eight games, including seven starts for the Whalers, the Buffalo Grove, Illinois, native posted a 3.17 ERA across 34.0 innings. He pitched to a 2-4 record with 27 strikeouts against just 12 walks.

Sheinkop is the fifth GW baseball player to appear in the Cape Cod League this summer, an unprecedented single-season number for the Colonials. Eddie Muhl (Cotuit Kettleers) and Robbie Metz (Wareham Gateman) were each named Cape Cod League All-Stars earlier this summer while Joey Bartosic (Wareham Gateman) and Brandon Chapman (Brewter Whitecaps) have also appeared in games.

Muhl was named the Cotuit Kettleers Pitcher of the Year after a standout season as a multi-faceted, right-handed pitcher. He posted a 2.02 ERA in 15 appearances, including two starts with 19 strikeouts and a 3-1 record across 26.2 innings. GW's single-season and career-saves record holder, Muhl is a two-time American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-East Region Second Team honoree. His 29 career saves entering his senior season tie him for fifth in the NCAA amongst career-saves leaders. He was also a Cape Cod League West Division All-Star and fired a scoreless inning of relief in the West Division's 8-0 victory.



Metz was also a West Division All-Star (0-0, HBP, 1 R) and along with teammate Bartosic, has helped the Wareham Gateman to a berth in the Cape Cod League Playoffs. Metz is batting .290 across 35 games for the Gateman with six doubles, one home run and 13 RBIs. He is also 12-for-15 in stolen base attempts while logging time in the infield and outfield.

Bartosic is batting .265 across 40 games for Wareham with two doubles, one triple and 12 RBIs. He also leads the Gateman with both 17 stolen bases 29 runs scored.

Tyler Swiggart was a Midwest Collegiate League All-Star for the Joliet Admirals and has had a dominant summer season. As of July 25, he boasts a 3-2 record and minuscule 1.88 ERA in 24.0 innings. He also has a 25-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio while limiting opponents to a .205 batting average.

Bobby Campbell ranks third on the Florence Redwolves (Coastal Plains League) with a .294 batting average across 36 games. He has totaled three doubles, 14 RBIs and 18 walks in addition to 20 runs scored. Florence is eyeing a spot in the Coastal Plains League Pettit Cup Playoffs as the regular season enters its final week.
