GW Baseball Adds Jon Tatum to Coaching Staff
Former Arkansas Pine Bluff Assistant Joins Colonials
Tatum spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, helping the Golden Lions win its first championship in program history after capturing the 2014 Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division championship.
At UAPB, Tatum served as recruiting coordinator, hitting coach and catching coach and also assisted with infielders and pitching. He was also responsible for implementing and overseeing the Golden Lions' strength and conditioning program as well as the team's operating budget.
Tatum has also coached for the Palm Springs POWER of the Southern California Collegiate League and the Alaska Goldpanners of the Alaskan Baseball League.
With the Palm Springs POWER, Tatum served as hitting coach and played a key role in the setting of a number of offensive records while overseeing the development of the team's catchers.
While coaching in the Alaskan Baseball League, the Goldpanners led the league with a .299 team batting average.
Tatum also has experience with professional baseball after serving as the bullpen catcher during the 2011 season for the Arkansas Travelers, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.
Tatum played collegiately at Northeast Mississippi Community College , Holmes Community College and the University of Arkansas Monticello. He is currently working on his Masters in Kinesiology at Southern Arkansas University.
