GW Baseball Adds Stephanos Stroop to Coaching Staff
Former Claremont Letterwinner Joins Colonials
Sept. 21, 2012
"We are excited to add Stephanos to our coaching staff," said Sheridan. "He brings a lot of experience from different facets of the game with his experience as a player, coach and advance scout. He is going to help us immensely this upcoming season."
Stroop is currently working with the Washington Nationals as a Baseball Operations Advance Scouting trainee. His primary responsibilities were scouting summer college wood bat leagues, charting Nationals' minor leaguers and their opponents and working with BATS video software.
A four-year letterwinner and 2010 graduate of Claremont McKenna College, Stroop was a pitcher, outfielder and first basemen for the Mudd-Scripps. He also served as captain during his senior year and was the recipient of the William B. Arce Sprit and Leadership Award and the Most Improved Award.
Stroop attended the Owen School of Management summer business institute at Vanderbilt University and is currently pursuing his masters in sports industry management from Georgetown University.
Stroop served as an assistant baseball coach and strength & conditioning intern at the Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tenn., as well as an assistant coach at St. Alban's School where he worked primarily with infielders and hitters.
Stroop also played professional baseball in the Independent Pecos League for the Ruidoso Osos and the Carlsbad Bats (2011).
