(1-12-05) converted 2-3 FGs with a block @ La Salle (1-19-05) Averaged 5.4 ppg during the five-game Australian exhibition tour in August.
As a Sophomore in 2003-04: averaged 4.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg in two preseason exhibitions grabbed a rebound vs. Wm & Mary (11/29/03) made his first start of the season and hit 2-3 FGs with a block vs. Towson (12/10/03) had a blk. and assist in 5 mins. @ ODU (12/20/03) had his best game of the season with 12 pts. on 5-6 FGs in his third start of the season vs. St. Bonaventure (2/4/04) started Dayton game and shot 2-2 with 2 rebs., blk. and stl. As a Freshman in 2002-03: Started both preseason exhibitions in the low post... started the UConn game (11/25/02)... scored five pts. but picked up an offsetting technical foul in the FIU game (12/3/02)... scored 11 pts. with four rebounds and a block against #9 Maryland (12/8/02)... hit a pair of threes in 11 minutes at Towson (12/22/02)... added five pts. with four rebs. against ODU (12/28/02) ... hit both FGs against #19 Xavier (2/4/03)... scored nine pts. with five rebs. and a pair of blocks at Dayton (2/12/03).
High School: Originally from Nikolaev, Ukraine, Kireev (pronounced "Kear-RAY-ef") is a 6-foot-11, 240-pound forward averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds for Evangel Christian Academy. "Alexander will give us a much-needed inside presence," Hobbs said. "Because of his size and skill level, he will be expected to play right away. He's a great rebounder, he can catch-and-shoot, and he can pass very well for a big man." Kireev played three seasons at Evangel Christian under coach Todd Foster. He is a Street & Smith's Magazine honorable mention All-America selection. He was named Academic All-State and was an All-District performer in Louisiana.
