High School: A native of London, England, he averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks per game as a senior last season for St. Augustine Prep in Richland, NJ, near Atlantic City, under coach Paul Rodio. Mensah-Bonsu, nicknamed "Pops," is coming off minor knee surgery (Oct. 25) and is expected to rejoin the St. Augustine team in early January. He competes in both the high jump and long jump events for the St. Augustine track and field team. "He plays with the same level of intensity and energy as Jaason Smith and that's what I love about him," Hobbs said. "He's as good an athlete as anyone his size." The Hermits posted a 25-3 record reaching the championship game of the Cape Atlantic League. He scored 19 points with 13 rebounds in a key game against Newport Academy in the Prime Time Shootout tournament at Trenton, NJ's Sovran Bank Arena.
