HIGH SCHOOL
Garino, a 6-foot-5-inch guard/forward from Mar del Plata, Argentina, guided Montverde (Fla.) Academy to a 23-4 overall record and a No. 9 ranking in the final ESPNHS Powerade Fab 50 in 2011-12. He helped the Eagles to the championship game of the prestigious ESPN National High School Invitational, scoring 20 points and grabbing seven rebounds against Nevada's Findlay Prep in the title contest.

Garino hails from the same school that produced former GW big man Joseph Katuka and previously played for Colonials' assistant coach Kevin Sutton at Montverde. The Argentine competed for his native country's National Team in the 2011 U-19 World Championships, where he averaged 9.4 and 4.2 rebounds in nine games during the tournament for a team that reached the bronze medal game. Garino's international experience was highlighted by a 21-point effort for Argentina in an 81-76 victory over Croatia. He will be looked on to play both shooting guard and small forward at GW.

"Patricio is a stat-sheet stuffer," said Coach Lonergan. "He can have a great affect on the game without scoring a lot of points. He can guard several positions and has a great feel for the game."
