High School: Averaged 14 points, 2.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game as a senior at the Newport School under coach Chris Chaney. The Newport School posted a 30-6 record last season and is the three-time Maryland State Private School defending champions. The Tigers posted a three-year combined record of 91-20 (.820) during Thompson's three seasons on the varsity. Thompson was named the MVP of the District All-Stars in the preliminary game of the Capital Classic game against the Suburban All-Stars at MCI Center on April 7. Thompson scored 21 points and handed out seven assists in that contest. Named honorable mention All-Met by the Washington Post (4/4/01). Accustomed to playing with talented teammates including UNCC's Rodney White, Florida's James White and Georgetown's Victor Samnick all of whom are Newport alumni.
