Colonials Stumble Against Temple

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - David Hawkins had 22 points and Brian Polk scored 13 off the bench as Temple defeated George Washington 68-65 on Sunday.
Keith Butler matched a career high with eight rebounds for the Owls (3-8, 1-0 Atlantic 10), who had 22 offensive rebounds and broke a two-game losing streak.
With the game tied at 64, Temple's Antywane Robinson sank a layup with 45.3 seconds left and George Washington's Mike Hall then made one of two from the line to cut the lead to one. Two free throws by Hawkins made it 68-65 with 7.6 left and Greg Collucci missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
The Owls used a 17-2 run early in the second half to take a 53-38 lead but Monroe scored 15 points in the next 12 minutes, including a 3-pointer with 1:23 left to tie the game at 64.
Temple had 17 offensive rebounds in the first half, including five on one
possession, and held a 34-29 lead at halftime. The Owls made just one of their
first 14 shots and trailed 10-2 but went on an 18-5 run to go ahead 26-20 with
