The Colonials (11-4, 2-1 Atlantic 10) won their 22nd straight home game, the fifth-best mark in the nation as play began Saturday.
The Bonnies (4-12, 1-2) have lost 10 of their last 11 games, and have lost their last 13 games at George Washington. Paul Williams and A.J. Hawkins had 12 points for St. Bonaventure, whose last win at GW came on Feb. 11, 1989.
GW had 17 offensive rebounds, and led 43-30 at intermission. Regis Koundjia added 13 points for the Colonials, and Carl Elliott and Travis King had six assists. Cheyenne Moore scored 10 points off the bench.
Elliott's 3-pointer gave GW a 54-40 lead with 14:13 left in the game. The Bonnies got no closer than eight points in the second half, after a 3-pointer by Tyler Relph made the score 61-53 with 11:06 to play.
Akingbade's 10-foot jumper gave GW a 22-20 lead with 6:55 left in the first half, and GW never trailed after that. Rice made back-to-back baskets to give GW a 27-21 lead with 5:44 left before halftime.
The Bonnies have lost five of their last six overall games to GW.
