Colonials Fall To Richmond, 72-65

RICHMOND, VA (AP) - Jermaine Bucknor scored a career-high 17 points to lead Richmond past George Washington 72-65 on Saturday.

The Spiders (12-8, 4-3 Atlantic-10) had an early 15-3 run paced by Bucknor's six points to take a 20-9 lead with 11:58 remaining in the first half.

After the Colonials cut the margin to 27-22, the Spiders outscored George Washington 16-6 over the final 5:53 of the first half to take a 43-28 halftime lead.

The Colonials (11-7, 5-3) used a 12-2 run to start the second half that cut the margin to 45-40 with 15:21 left. Richmond scored the next 11 points, five by Bucknor, and the Colonials could get no closer than four in the closing minutes.

Bucknor also had a career-high eight rebounds and Mike Skrocki added 13 points for the Spiders. Reggie Brown scored 12 and Tony Dobbins had 11 and 10 rebounds.

George Washington was led by Pops Mensah-Bonsu with 11 points. Carl Elliott and T. J. Thompson had 10 points each.
