CINCINNATI (AP) - Lionel Chalmers made his first eight shots and finished with 24 points Wednesday night, leading Xavier to an 83-66 victory over George Washington.
Xavier (18-10, 9-6 Atlantic 10) used a balanced attack to rebound from its worst defeat of the season. Romain Sato added 16 points and had nine rebounds, and two others scored in double figures.
The Musketeers crumbled during an 81-60 loss at George Washington on Jan. 28, their worst defeat in four years. Xavier never trailed in the rematch, sending the Colonials (16-10, 10-5) to their most lopsided defeat of the season.
Xavier has won eight of its last nine games.
Chalmers made his first eight shots, including four 3-pointers, before missing a 3 with 6:30 left in the game. He finished 9-of-12 from the field.
Xavier made its first six 3-point attempts and pulled ahead 26-11 midway through the first half. The Colonials never got closer than seven points, and Xavier stretched its lead to as many as 24 points in the second half.
Carl Elliott led George Washington with 15 points.
