WASHINGTON (AP) - Rob Diggs hit career highs with 22 points and 10 rebounds and Maureece Rice had a career-best 23 points as George Washington overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to beat Longwood 74-60 Friday night.

After missing their first seven shots of the game and shooting just 27.6 percent from the field in the first half, the Colonials (3-0) found their touch after halftime, shooting 48.6 percent from the field. GW took control with a 17-6 run to start the second half, taking the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Rice with 11:38 left.

Maurice Sumter had 17 of his 19 points in the first half to lead the Lancers (2-2) to a 35-27 halftime lead. Sumter also had 10 rebounds, Morgan Clayton scored 14 points, and Kirk Williams had 12 in Longwood's first-ever game against George Washington.
