NCAA MEN'S BASKETBALL
GW Coach Karl Hobbs
What did you say to the team to spark the 20-0 run?
"We needed to settle down a little bit. We missed some easy shots, and found ourselves down 10. The one thing about Longwood, from what we watched on tape, is that they really come out like gangbusters. Once we settled down, we started to make shots and really focus in on defense."
GW junior F Wynton Witherspoon
What did coach say to get you started on that 20-0 run?
"He told us the only way we were going to win the game was to play defense, so we had to go out there and play as hard defense as we could."
Did you have to compensate more because Maureece Rice didn't play today?
"We had to pick up the slack because Maureece wasn't there. It wasn't just me. You can go right down the roster. Everyone had to pick up the slack."
Were you a little overconfident given Longwood's record coming in?
"We understood that they were going to come out with a lot of energy, and that the game is 40 minutes long. We just wanted to play as hard as we could so we could get out there and win."
