George Washington Goes West And Wins Against Sacramento State 59-47

SACRAMENTO (AP)--Sophomore center Joseph Katuka had 13 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocked shots to help George Washington defeat Sacramento State 59-47 on Tuesday night.

Rob Diggs led the George Washington Colonials (6-2) with 14 points and six rebounds.

Antonio Flaggs and Loren Leath each had 11 points to lead the Sacramento State Hornets (1-10).

With the Hornets missing 14 of their first 16 shots from the field, the Colonials took an 18-5 lead after Damian Hollis made a basket with 7:39 left to play in the first half.

The Hornets outscored George Washington the rest of the way, but the Colonials held on for a 32-21 halftime lead. The Colonials made 41.9 percent (13 of 31) of their shots from the floor in the first half while the Hornets shot 17.4 percent (4 of 23).

The Colonials pushed their margin to 19 points on a 3-point shot by Rob Diggs at the 13:37 mark in the second half. The Hornets suddenly found their shooting touch and charged back to cut George Washington?s lead to 45-35 on a basket by Randy Adams with less than 12 minutes in the game.

The Colonials extended their lead to 13 points with 5:54 to play and held on for the victory.
