Saturday's Game: George Washington (6-5) and Longwood (6-8) meet for just the third time tonight.
Saturday's game is the fifth straight road game for GW which comes to Farmville following a 13-day, four-game road trip that began Dec. 23 at Sacramento State and continued to Honolulu for three games in the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic Dec. 27,29,30.
GW is aiming to snap a three-game slide following a 59-53 setback to Coppin State on Tuesday in the Rainbow Classic. Damian Hollis and Noel Wilmore led the Colonials with a 14 points.
GW is 2-4 on the road this season and is 40-52 (.435) away from home in seven-plus seasons under Karl Hobbs.
Longwood is coming off a narrow 81-80 loss to Navy also Tuesday at Annapolis. Ryan Bogen (21 pts., 7 rebs.) and Dana Smith (19 pts., 7 rebs.) paced the Lancers against the Midshipmen.
The Lancers are 4-1 at home this season and 229-125 (.647) in 28-plus years at Willett Hall.
Longwood, an independent, is in its second year of Division I status following a four-year NCAA reclassification process to move from Div. II to Div. I.

A Closer Look at Longwood: Longwood enters play Saturday with a 6-8 record after a narrow 81-80 loss at Navy Tuesday in Annapolis. The Lancers are 4-1 at home this season and 229-125 (.647) in 28-plus seasons in Willett Hall. A school of 4,044 students in the south-central Virginia town of Farmville, Longwood is an independent program that recently completed a four-year reclassification process to move from Div. II to Div. I. LU has two returning starters from last season's 9-22 squad led by Dana Smith's 15.7 ppg and 6.1 rebounds. Ryan Bogan (14.2 ppg, 30 threes) is the other Lancer averaging double figures in scoring. For the season, Longwood is shooting 40 percent from the field, averages 72.2 points a game but is getting outrebounded by its opponents by nearly 9 caroms a game. Opponents are shooting 45 percent from the floor. LU handles the ball well and enjoys a +5.9 turnover margin. Gillian is in his sixth season at Longwood after spending the previous six seasons (1997-2003) as an assistant coach at George Mason under Jim Larranaga.
