Carl Elliott Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - Freshman Carl Elliott (Brooklyn, NY/Worcester Academy) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's basketball, the league office has announced. It marks his first conference weekly award.

Elliott, a 6-foot-4 combo guard, recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 12 assists in GW's 88-72 loss at #18 Texas Dec. 29.

He scored his career-high 18 points with two steals while playing 35 minutes in GW's 90-81 loss at #10 Saint Joseph's Jan. 3.

Elliott's stats for the week: two games on the road against Top 25 opponents, 31 points on 10-25 FGs (.400), 2-6 3Pt. FGs, 9-12 FTs (.750), eight rebounds, 14 assists and four steals.

One of the Colonials' impact freshmen, Elliott has appeared in all 12 games while starting 11. He leads the team in assists with 58 and steals with 29 while averaging 8.3 points per game and 25.8 minutes.

GW (6-6, 0-1 A-10) next plays Temple this Wednesday, Jan. 7, in a 7:30 p.m. game at Smith Center.
