Men's Basketball's T.J. Thompson Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington's T.J. Thompson (Germantown, MD/Newport School) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's basketball Jan. 6, the league has announced. It marked the third time this season Thompson has been recognized as the league's top rookie.

The 5-foot-11 freshman point guard won the honor based on his performance against St. Bonaventure Jan. 3. He scored 21 points on 7-for-11 FGs (.636) and 6-7 (.857) from 3-point range with three rebounds and five assists as GW defeated the Bonnies, 92-86.

Thompson, who has started all 13 games, leads the Colonials in assists with 54 (4.2 apg), steals with 20 and minutes played with 468 for an average of 36.0 minutes per game. He is averaging 11.5 points per game, third-highest on the team.

GW (9-4, 2-0) takes a two-game win streak to Dayton Wednesday, Jan. 9, to play the Flyers (8-4, 0-1) at the University of Dayton Arena. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
