WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball hosts preseason Atlantic 10 favorite VCU for the first time as league rivals on Tuesday in an anticipated sellout at the Charles E. Smith Center. The Colonials will debut new Nike #MonumentalHomeCourtAdvantage jerseys for the nationally televised CBS Sports Network contest, depicting the same three D.C. landmarks - The White House, U.S. Capitol and Washington Monument - that grace the iconic Smith Center court.

GW will honor and recognize one of its all-time program legends at Tuesday's game as alumnus and former men's basketball standout Mike Brey ('82) will be inducted into the GW Athletic Hall of Fame. Brey, who attended GW from 1980-82 and was named team MVP in his lone season with the Colonials in 1981-82, has been one of the most successful college basketball coaches in the country during stints at Delaware and Notre Dame over the past two decades with 13 20-win seasons and 11 appearances in the NCAA Tournament to his credit.

GW improved to 8-0 at home this season - with an average margin of victory of 19.1 points - with a commanding 69-56 victory over Rhode Island in its A-10 home opener on Saturday. The Colonials' current nine-game home win streak equals the 10th-longest in the program's 100-season history and is the longest since a 24-game streak from 2005-07.

Sophomore Kevin Larsen matched his career-high with 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting and added seven rebounds to pace the Colonials to their fourth straight win over URI's Rams and fourth consecutive A-10 home opening victory. Senior frontcourt teammate Isaiah Armwood recorded his second straight double-double and fourth of the season with 10 points and 10 boards along with three blocks. Sophomore backcourt teammates Kethan Savage and Patricio Garino rounded out GW's double-digit scorers with 14 points apiece.

Tuesday's meeting is the fifth all-time between the two programs, fourth in the last five years, and second-ever inside the Smith Center, but is the Rams' first visit to the district as a member of the Atlantic 10. GW will be seeking its first win in the series that dates back to 1978.

VCU has won five straight games and nine of its last 10 after starting the season 4-2. The Rams are coming off a 71-57 victory over George Mason in their A-10 opener in Richmond on Thursday behind a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double from leading scorer Treveon Graham. Preseason First Team All-Atlantic 10 picks Graham (15.7 ppg, 6.8 rpg) and Juvonte Reddic (11.5 ppg, 7.7 rpg) pace the Rams in scoring and rebounding.

Behind its pressure Havoc defense, VCU leads the A-10 and NCAA with 13.0 steals per game, 20.4 turnovers forced per contest and a +8.13 turnover margin. GW is second in the A-10 with 8.0 steals per game and fourth in the league with a +2.56 turnover margin.
